AUSTIN, TEXAS – Global Water Intelligence (GWI) has announced the theme for the 2019 American Water Summit, taking place in Houston, on November 12th – 14th. The 10th annual event will hear from keynote speaker Rana Foroohar, FT, and bring together productive networking, with an agenda and speakers that represent and drive action, progress and opportunity. The goal of the 2019 American Water Summit is to explore the ways in which strong leadership will shape the future of sustainability in North America.

Organised by Global Water Intelligence, the American Water Summit brings together high-level decision makers from every part of the North American water industry. Focused on assembling an insight driven agenda to help assess the ways leadership can shape a sustainable future for America by bringing together leaders from across the public and private sectors to address the challenges facing water in America today.

Each year those challenges are getting broader: climate change, demographic change, political change, and economic change are all putting pressure on the way water works.

The goal of the American Water Summit is to bring value in the following three ways:

  • Action – not only do we make it our mission to identify the pockets of investment and action in the market, we strive to make the conference actionable for our delegates. This means providing authoritative insight, delivering the right contacts and building communities to drive progress beyond the event.
  • An investment and opportunity-led program – we focus on projects, their value in terms of opportunity, and getting the people who are making the deals into the room. This isn’t easy, so it’s unlikely that you will find this approach anywhere else, giving delegates access to hard to reach opportunities and contacts.
  • Delivering long-term value for delegates – post-event, we build communities, produce whitepapers and nurture the networks that we have created, so the value of the conference to our attendees extends far beyond the three-day event.

Day 1 of the American Water Summit will begin with the Opening Plenary, featuring keynote speaker Rana Foroohar. Rana is an FT Columnist and Global Economic Analyst, covering the intersection of business, economics, politics, and foreign affairs, speaking widely on the shifts occurring in globalization, the political economy, and the digital economy. We will also be joined in this session by Kyle Dreyfuss-Wells, CEO, Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District and Yvonne W. Forrest, Deputy Director, Houston Water.

The Day 1 agenda will split into 5 parallel strands exploring:

  • Technology Futures,
  • Climate Change,
  • Consolidation,
  • Corporate Water, and
  • Utility Excellence

A more intimate agenda on Day 2 will feature the CEOs Panel, with Yuvbir Sing, CEO, SUEZ Water Technologies and Solutions, Mirka Widerer, CEO, De Nora Water Technologies, and Marshall Davert, Executive Vice President, Water, Stantec, as well as exploring the water needs in the food revolution, as well as a session devoted to GWI Market Insights, with analysis from GWI expert correspondents, researchers, and writers.

Once again, we will be featuring the Next Generation Water Future session which pairs a next generation utility leader with an established utility mentor and asks them to present their vision of a water utility in the year 2050. At the 2019 American Water Summit this session will be the closing panel of the event, ensuring that delegates close out with the promise of a bright future for the water industry, driven by a forward-thinking cohort of next generation water leaders.

The 2019 American Water Summit is taking place in Houston, Texas, November 12th-14th. The deadline to receive the 20% early bird discount is September 10th.
