Shant Paklaian Joins HNTB in Chicago
CHICAGO – Shant Paklaian joined HNTB Corporation as construction manager, based in the firm’s Chicago office. Paklaian has 12 years of experience managing construction projects and programs in a variety of private sector roles.
Paklaian provides technical and engineering support to major program and construction management initiatives with a focus on the transit and rail sector. He is responsible for resolving technical field issues, coordinating between owner operations, architects and contractors, and facilitating project delivery.

Prior to joining HNTB, Paklaian served as construction oversight manager for Chicago Transit Authority’s Program Management consultant. In addition to his CTA experience, his background in the region includes work for Chicago Department of Aviation, Chicago Department of Transportation and Illinois Tollway.
Paklaian earned a Bachelor of Science in construction management from Bradley University, and is working on a Master of Science in construction management. He is involved in the Professional Order of Engineering Technology and Construction Management Association of America.
In Chicago, HNTB has advanced some of the region’s most significant infrastructure projects, including serving as lead designer and providing construction oversight services for Chicago Transit Authority’s Wilson Station reconstruction project; program management for Illinois Tollway’s $14 billion Move Illinois program; lead designer for Phases 1 and 2 of Chicago Department of Transportation’s Lakefront Trail; and owner’s representative services for Chicago Department of Aviation’s O’Hare and Midway Capital Improvement Programs.
