Additional Co-Packers Planned for 2024

Vienna, OH, March 2024 – CORE Erosion Control Services has added a co-packing location in New Kent, VA.

“We’re excited about partnering with the team at Allied Pallet to supply CORE filter socks and other products to this growing area of the country,” Dwayne Trafka, CORE operations manager, said. “It gives us leverage in the Atlantic region to be able to offer our customers and distributors lower pricing to compete in that market.”

Allied Pallet is a one-shift operation with roughly 50 team members who produce mulch byproduct, which is what is needed for the CORE filter sock. They also sort and repair pallets, which CORE will utilize to ship final product on.

“This new partnership also reduces our trucking costs and gave us the ability to get our product to the customer in 48 hours, and in some cases by the next day,” Trafka said.

The agreement allows both parties to work together to ensure success.

CORE supplies the equipment and mesh needed to manufacture the filter sock, and Allied Pallet supplies the labor and recycled wood chips from unusable pallets to manufacture and ship the CORE filter sock from their operation to various CORE customers in this region of the country.

Having a presence in Virginia will allow CORE products to be shipped to customers in Virginia, Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina.

“From a sales perspective, we’re very excited to have expanded our capabilities to these new regions of the country,” CORE Sales Director Jim Pepperney said. “The sales and operations teams will continue to work together to find new ways to grow this area of the business, and most importantly serve our customers.”

While filter sock is the sole product currently being manufactured and shipped out of Allied Pallet, additional products could potentially be added to the CORE product offering later this year.

“With the relationships that CORE can tap into, we are able to stay ahead of some of our competitors and give assistance to our customers,” Trafka said. “As this area of Millwood’s business continues to grow, so will the number of co-packers.”
