Reston, Va. –  The latest publication from the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), Infrastructure System Resilience: An Engineering Framework for Assessment, Management, and Governance, Infrastructure Resilience Publication (IRP) 8, offers a new framework that addresses infrastructure assessment, management, and governance because these three facets of infrastructure are considered essential for ensuring that the products and services provided meet the societal needs. This framework will help to identify the infrastructure system resilience processes, tools, and outcomes and how they relate to overall community resilience.

Topics addressed include eight interlinked elements that comprise the infrastructure resilience framework; outcomes of the framework; links between community resilience and infrastructure assessment, management, and governance; and partial or whole applications of the framework. IRP 8 will assist practitioners in taking the underlying complex adaptive systems theory and implementing resilience in practice complex adaptive system theory and implementing resilience in practice.
