Guide showcases leading examples of copper cladding, roofs, and custom building elements

McLean, VA — Celebrating over 11,000 years of human innovation, the Copper Development Association (CDA) has released a new visual guide with dozens of examples from its portfolio of architectural applications. The guide – titled Achievements in Copper – is now available as a free download from CDA’s website. The organization and its members will also distribute a limited run of printed versions at architectural events.

Achievements in Copper offers sections on exterior cladding and wall panels, roof systems, and custom-fabricated decorative and other building elements. The selection of projects in the guide highlight winners of CDA’s North American Copper in Architecture Awards (NACIA). Appropriately, it is being released as the organization continues to seek submissions for its 16th edition of the program. Key examples include new copper designs from the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum, renovations such as Farmingdale State College’s Lupton Hall, and groundbreaking custom-perforated panels at the Senate of Canada building.

CDA’s NACIA awards recognize distinctive applications of copper in buildings across the United States and Canada. Architects, engineers, and contractors can submit their work for award consideration by visiting copper.org. Projects of any size and type are eligible, so long as they feature architectural elements of copper and copper alloys such as brass and bronze completed in the last three years. Thanks to the generous support of CDA members, there is no cost to submit, but entries must be received by March 31, 2023.

“This guide represents a valuable addition to CDA’s support of architects, engineers, and contractors seeking assistance on architectural applications of copper and copper alloys,” said Larry Peters, CDA’s project manager and architectural applications specialist. “It will give design and construction professionals across the country a look at how they can both renovate and innovate with this beautiful, resilient material.”
