GWI Announces Winners of the 2021 Global Water Awards
Global Water Intelligence (GWI) announced the winners of the 2021 Global Water Awards, which were awarded in an online presentation on Wednesday 2 June. The coveted awards ceremony recognises the industry’s greatest achievements over the previous year, rewarding the initiatives and companies in the water, wastewater and desalination sectors that are moving the industry forward through improved operating performance, innovative technology adoption and sustainable financial models.
This was particularly important in 2021 as we looked back on a year of unprecedented hardship for companies across the world. To recognise this, for the first time the 2021 awards included a category for Resilient Water Agency of the Year, awarded to PUB, Singapore’s National Water Agency, as the governmental agency or water utility that offered the most robust or innovative response to the unique challenges of 2020 for the water and wastewater sector.
GWI Publisher Christopher Gasson, offered his congratulations – “I would like to congratulate all of the 2021 Global Water Awards winners, as well as the recipients of the distinction and highly commended awards. This year’s Global Water Awards winners succeeded despite, or perhaps because of, the extremely difficult circumstances of 2020. The water industry was essential in helping protect people around the world, despite the lack of resources, extreme lockdown curfews and financial difficulties. Across the industry all of our winners worked hard to ensure the public’s access to water, while also pushing forward to complete major projects, finalise deals, and innovate and accelerate in all areas of business. Now more than ever, it is essential that we recognise these achievements.”
