Thaker has more than 31 years of experience with the NJDOT, including serving as executive manager of the bureau of structural and railroad engineering services. In that role, he supervised more than 30 structural and civil engineers responsible for bridge design, construction review, insuring proposed bridge designs complied with industry standards, reviewing new bridge products and technologies, and railroad engineering and safety for at-grade railroad crossings.
A professional engineer in New Jersey, he is a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a master’s degree in structures, and he holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from M.S. University in India. He is a certified public manager and a member of the American Council of Engineering Companies.
In New Jersey, HNTB’s work includes design of the Pulaski Skyway rehabilitation and design of Portway truck routes that provide intermodal roadway connections as well as numerous other projects for NJDOT. HNTB currently is serving as general consulting engineer for New Jersey Turnpike Authority; construction manager for Garden State Parkway interchange 125 improvement project; and program manager for New Jersey Transit’s post-superstorm Sandy resiliency efforts, among other roles for clients.
