OMAHA, Neb. — The American Public Transportation Association has awarded HDR a platinum recognition in its Sustainability Commitment Program. HDR is the second business member and seventh organization overall to earn the status since the program began in 2009.

“We are thrilled to receive a platinum recognition from APTA,” said Pam Yonkin, HDR’s sustainability and resiliency director. “This affirms our deep commitment to sustainability and our hard work in giving clients the tools they need to achieve their sustainability goals.”

HDR strives to offer clients the best economic, social and environmental value by delivering integrated solutions, both in the projects we deliver for their communities and in the way we conduct our business. HDR supports transit agencies in developing their initial sustainability plans, updating existing plans and implementing their plans. This includes helping transit agencies develop sustainability guidelines, utilize third-party rating systems on their projects, identify electric vehicle readiness and implement zero-emissions fleet transitions, among other sustainability services.

APTA includes more than 1,500 member organizations and its member systems transport more than 90% of people using public transportation in the United States and Canada. The APTA Sustainability Commitment recognizes members who commit to becoming more sustainable in their operations and practices. Through a series of core sustainability principles, the commitment provides both agency and business members with a common framework that helps define, initiate and advance sustainability in the public transportation industry.

More information about HDR’s commitment to sustainability can be found in HDR’s recently published 2022 ESG Report.
