David Shull Joins NELSON Worldwide as National Practice Leader, Industrial
David will champion the development, growth, and enrichment of NELSON’s Industrial Practice
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — June 27, 2023 — NELSON Worldwide, an award-winning architecture, design, and strategy firm, is pleased to welcome David Shull as National Practice Leader, Industrial. David joins the firm with over 35 years of industry experience, 11 of which he spent in a similar role, championing innovative solutions in the industrial sector. In his new role, David will be accountable for developing and implementing NELSON’s company-wide strategy for growing and enhancing the practice, fostering client relationships and managing revenue generation.
“David has demonstrated success in both developing valuable relationships with clients and leading teams to deliver forward-thinking projects on their behalf,” says John “Ozzie” Nelson, Jr., Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at NELSON Worldwide. “Industrial facilities play a critical role in business operations and I am confident in David’s ability to advise clients on how to best approach this important aspect of their real estate portfolios.”
With experience as a project architect, project manager, client leader, and business developer in a variety of markets, David’s breadth of expertise extends beyond a single role and practice. Throughout his career, he has learned to understand, apply, and leverage skills in lean thinking in order to reach a successful solution. Guided by this principle, he consistently meets clients’ goals and aspirations through the delivery of high-performing projects, like the 420,000-square-foot LEED Silver distribution center designed for Smithfield Foods that exceeded expectations through key performance improvements, including significant reductions in first costs, ambient noise, and operating energy, as well as an increase in throughput performance.
David has initial plans to expand the firm’s work in technology and life sciences by providing clients with solutions for research and development, manufacturing, and logistics needs. With the long-term goal of leading the team into new market sectors, he will organize the practice’s endeavors by reinforcing NELSON’s current brand offerings while planning for new value propositions in emergent areas of the industrial marketplace.
“It is my hope that I will be able to draw on my past experience to catalyze the growth of opportunity for NELSON’s Industrial practice and help create an environment where our team can grow and flourish, our clients receive high performance service, and we are a meaningful contributor of making a better tomorrow,” says David.
