Matern Professional Engineering is pleased to announce the promotion of Daniel Durrance to Senior Project Manager and Mechanical Engineer. In this role, Durrance oversees the company’s Commercial Mechanical Department, where he leads a team of engineers who work in commercial mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and HVAC disciplines. Durrance is approaching a decade of experience managing project costs, developing CAD drawings, leading design teams, troubleshooting mechanical issues, marketing projects and establishing and maintaining client relationships. This promotion reinforces Durrance’s work performance and the firm’s continued growth and expansion of services across the southeastern United States.

“Our firm is committed to strategic growth and placing people in the right roles. Promoting Daniel reflects his impeccable work ethic, leadership and engineering expertise,” said Ryan Strandquest, LEED AP, President of Matern Professional Engineering. “Dan’s industry knowledge regarding commercial mechanical systems, technical design trends and client relationships make him the perfect fit for this position. We are confident Dan will thrive in this new leadership position and continue to provide high-quality, hands-on services to our clients.”

“Matern Professional Engineering is a fantastic firm that encourages its people to take on leadership roles, evolve with the industry, and build meaningful relationships with teams and clients. I’m excited to advance and further enhance the firm’s exceptional services to clients,” said Durrance. “I work with a team that is full of talented engineers who understand the intricacies of engineering design and client relationships.”

Durance’s innovative and practical mindset enables him to accurately assess client priorities and determine realistic design objectives. He worked closely with the firm’s Marketing Department and leadership group and earned a significant win for the firm’s project portfolio by securing a renovation project for the University of Central Florida’s Biology building. Matern Professional Engineering will refurbish the facility with new ventilation systems, ductwork and control devices, modernizing the facility and enhancing safety measures. “I’m very proud of all the projects we work on and strive to give the best service we can on all of our projects including this one with UCF,” said Durrance.

Durrance is an active volunteer in the Construction Owners Association of America Cares program, where he assists in various community outreach efforts that support the Central Florida region. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of South Florida.

Prior to joining the firm, Durrance worked at a MEP firm that specialized in pharmaceutical manufacturing, before transitioning to broader commercial projects. He has expansive experience in technical MEP system design for projects related to commercial manufacturing, automotive, aviation, healthcare facilities, and laboratory.
