– KOHLER WILL BE HONORED AT THE MUSEUM’S ANNUAL GALA ON MAY 24 –

WASHINGTON, D.C.— Today, the National Building Museum announced it will recognize Kohler Co. and its dynamic leader, the late Herbert V. Kohler, Jr. (1939-2022) as the recipient of the 2023 Honor Award at its annual Gala. The Honor Award recognizes individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to our built heritage and will take place at the Museum’s annual Gala on Wednesday, May 24.

Since its founding in 1873, Kohler has been making history with its bold designs and experiences, daring to imagine the impossible, and then ensuring that is achieved through its focus on a better planet, better communities, and better lives.

Kohler’s 150th anniversary theme of “Come All Creators” is a yearlong celebration honoring the rich history of the company and its forward-thinking philosophies of innovation and sustainability which align with the Museum’s Institutional Pillars: Equity, Environment, Innovation, and Wonder.

“We are thrilled to present Kohler with the 36th annual Honor Award,” said Aileen Fuchs, President and Executive Director of the National Building Museum. “We couldn’t be more excited to pay homage to Kohler’s 150-year heritage and the truly remarkable legacy of Herb Kohler, a design icon, industry pioneer, and transformational leader whose contributions made Kohler an international success.”

“We are honored to be recognized by the National Building Museum,” commented David Kohler, Chair and CEO of Kohler Co. “It is especially meaningful during our company’s 150th anniversary as we historically have shared the same heritage and values surrounding the importance of design and preservation.”

“The National Building Museum’s focus on diversity, sustainability, workforce development, and accessibility to the arts, is the basis for a valuable partnership that can have impact well into the future,” added Laura Kohler, Chief Sustainability and Diversity Officer at Kohler Co.

David Kohler and Laura Kohler will accept the Honor Award on behalf of Kohler during the Museum’s Gala on Wednesday, May 24. The Gala includes a cocktail party, seated dinner, award presentation, and a late-night after party. More information about sponsorships and tickets can be found here.
