Hewitt, a senior rail project manager at HDR, has managed the design and construction of intermodal facilities and gate systems across North America, serving nearly all major railroads and several ports over the past two decades. Hewitt’s background is in both engineering design and construction management, helping him find practical and pragmatic solutions to real world engineering problems.
“Railroads and ports don’t have a lot of available space to expand anymore, particularly at their urban and coastal locations. Instead, they’re going to have to eke out every percentage growth opportunity they can within an existing footprint,” Hewitt said. “That requires a new mindset and a new operating approach.”
