LITTLE ROCK, Ark.– Arkansas-based Lexicon Inc. today announced the promotions of Mike Colvin to plant manager for Prospect Steel and Justin Smith to plant manager for Custom Metals. Both Colvin and Smith will be based at the company’s headquarters in Little Rock.

“As dedicated members of the Lexicon family, we are proud to promote Mike and Justin to plant managers within their respective specialties,” said Patrick Schueck, president and CEO. “Over their combined 54 years of service, Mike and Justin have demonstrated that innovation is driven just as much by people as technology and hardware. Under their expanded leadership capacities, we will become an even better workplace that continues to prioritize and support its people.”

While he has held various roles over his 31 years of employment with Lexicon, Mike Colvin most recently served as the quality assurance manager in the maintenance division, which he maintained when he later transitioned to Custom Metals. Colvin has been responsible for developing and implementing quality management systems in accordance with the American Institute of Steel Construction’s (AISC) regulations. In his new role, Colvin will oversee Prospect Steel’s structural steel fabrication and coatings operations.

As the new plant manager at Custom Metals, Justin Smith will uphold Lexicon’s value of creating a safe and efficient work environment. Smith began his career at Lexicon more than 23 years ago as a welder. He went on to become a foreman and then a plant manager. Over the years, Justin has been involved in some of the company’s most notable projects, including the Nucor Convent pressure vessels, Nucor Brandenburg crane girders and the AEP Rockport SCR Project, which won Custom Metals the supplier commendation award from Babcock Power. Before joining Lexicon, Smith worked at Rohr, Inc., an aerospace manufacturing company, and Trinity Industries, where he utilized submerged arc welding for stainless food grade pressure vessels.
