OMAHA, Neb. — HDR’s Jim Carnahan, P.E., has been promoted to area manager of operations in Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia.

Based in Pittsburgh, Carnahan will lead 340 staff in nine offices. He will work with regional practice leaders to set the vision for the area, develop and retain talent, and focus on project delivery and technical quality for HDR clients.

With over 30 years in the industry (21 at HDR), Carnahan brings the right balance of experience, including structural design, project management, business development and operations management with clients in multiple market sectors.

“Jim is known for his exceptional analytical and strategic communication skills,” said HDR’s Regional Director of Operations Mike Crall. “With his experience and business acumen on complex programs, we look forward to seeing projects and programs flourish in the region.”

Most recently, Carnahan served as manager of the firm’s transportation business practice in Pennsylvania and West Virginia. In that role, he helped spur significant growth of the practice and was responsible for diversifying the team geographically, adding market and cross sector service offerings, and increasing the firm’s client base.
