BOSTON, MA, NYSE, TSX:STN: Chris Bridle has joined Stantec, a leading global design and engineering firm, as a design director for landscape architecture and urban design in the firm’s Boston office. Bridle brings nearly 20 years of award-winning design expertise spanning a range of project scales and typologies across the globe.

In his role at Stantec, Bridle will play a key role in leading all phases of project design, as well as contributing to team growth and development. He will also support Stantec’s design-led ambitions within local, national, and international markets through his in-depth knowledge of new and emerging design issues, trends and technologies.

“Chris brings a multi-faceted design sensibility, paired with a passion for emerging technologies and tactics,” said Robert Corning, leader of Stantec’s New England planning, landscape architecture, and urban development team. “These skills perfectly complement our objectives here at Stantec, and we’re confident Chris will successfully contribute to the ongoing growth of our team.”

With a focus on complex urban design projects, Bridle has served as lead designer on a variety of large-scale efforts. Prior to joining Stantec, his project experience includes landscape architecture and urban design for one of the world’s most sustainable urban developments in Abu Dhabi, the first neighborhood in Masdar City; the conceptual masterplan and design development for Ideanomics’ Fintech Village in West Hartford, Connecticut, a new 60 acre live/work campus that promotes well-being and a healthy lifestyle; design efforts for Tel Aviv’s underground light-rail system, including new parks, plazas and multimodal streetscapes; the revitalization of The Christian Science Plaza in Boston, the largest privately owned public space in Boston; and design for Chinatown Park, one of the four Rose Kennedy Greenway parks designed as part of Boston’s Big Dig.

Bridle joins Stantec from a reputable Boston-based landscape architecture practice, where he most recently served as a lead designer delivering high-profile, innovative urban work. A respected industry leader, Bridle has been a visiting critic at the Boston Architectural College and has presented at the Boston Society of Architects, Architecture Boston Expo and University of Rhode Island’s lecture series.

He has earned a first class honors, bachelor of arts degree and graduate degree with distinction in Landscape Architecture from Leeds Beckett University in the United Kingdom.
