Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) Association Announces Board of Directors, Officers

RESTON, VA – The newly formed Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) Association has elected its first Board of Directors and Officers to oversee the organization. The Board was elected by members attending the kick-off conference in Washington, DC on July 26 and the Board subsequently elected officers.

Serving as the first President and Chairman of the Board of the SUEA is John Berrettini, Vice President of A/I/Data, Inc., Baltimore, Maryland. The President-Elect is Art Worthman, Director of Subsurface Utility Engineering at A. Morton Thomas and Associates, Rockville, Maryland. Treasurer is Lawrence Arcand, UES Area Manager of CARDNO in Ontario, Canada. The board Secretary is Andrew Sylvest, Operations Manager – Central Region Utilities at Surveying And Mapping (SAM), LLC, Lakewood, Colorado. Directors are Greg Jeffries, Regional SUE Manager – Texas, McKim & Creed in Addison, Texas; Daniel Checchia, Vice President of Location Services, KEITH & Associates, Pompano Beach, Florida; Craig Martin, President, Accumark, Inc., Ashland, Virginia; Donald Haines, Business Development Manager and Senior Engineer, Utility Mapping Services, Inc., Shoreline, Washington; Nicholas Zembillas, Chief Executive Officer, Subsurface Utility Engineering, LLC, Tarpon Springs, Florida; and Nadia Pimental, Regional Practice Leader for Mid & South Atlantic Utility Services, KCI Technologies, Inc., Sparks, Maryland.

Earlier, the Board selected John M. Palatiello & Associates, Inc. as its association management company, with John Palatiello serving as Executive Director of the SUE Association.

“I am honored to be elected by my peers as the first President of the Subsurface Utility Engineering Association,” said John Berrettini. “As one of the founding members who worked with a team to conceive the association and bring it to reality, I look forward to working with the Board to grow the membership and implement policies and programs to enhance SUE practice and increase its recognition in the marketplace.”

At the kick-off conference, members heard from thought leaders in the SUE market, a member of Congress and two officials from the U.S. Department of Transportation. Additionally the board was elected, bylaws were adopted, and a dues structure was approved.

“This is an excellent board with diverse backgrounds and a wealth of experience in the SUE field,” said John Palatiello. “This leadership will help guide the association and establish a strong foundation for future success.”
