Richard Cross, Atkins’ Chief Digital Officer (CDO) has won CDO of the year at the Digital Technology Leader awards in London.
The awards recognise the achievements of individuals and companies, from website design and coding to UX and project management, from scrum masters and product managers, to CDO’s.
Since joining Atkins in 2014, Richard has been driving an overarching vision of what digital means for Atkins along with its clients and partners. This has been focused on finding new ways to positively challenge existing ways of working, along with introducing new technologies to drive change and innovative business models into the way Atkins delivers projects. Crucially, alongside driving a transformative and disruptive agenda, Richard has also focused on ensuring digital is now an adopted and evolving part of the business’ global corporate strategy, supporting differentiated growth in the industry.
Richard Cross, Chief Digital Officer, Atkins, commented on the award: “The digital landscape is full of opportunities that are ripe for an organisation like Atkins. We are already taking advantage and “riding the wave” of digital disruption that is having a significant impact on the industry. It’s an honour to have received this award, but of course a large part of it is made up of the hard work by many of my colleagues globally across the business who are dedicated to bringing these new ways of working to life and embedding digital into the way we deliver for our clients and partners.
“For example, we’ve seen great success recently for the Wellbriefing team, receiving the Best Use of Technology award at AJ100, along with engagement from our clients who’ve got actively involved with recent Digital Incubator activity including; M25 Hackathon where global teams from Atkins explored intelligent interventions to improve travel experiences, our Heathrow RapidStart focused on how we can improve the arrival experience from an hour before landing to onward transport and Atkins Digital Survey which is helping customers use drones and VR technology.”
