OMAHA, Neb. — Jennifer Steen, P.E., PMP, ENV SP, has joined HDR as its Highways and Roads BIM director. She will assist clients in advancing their digital delivery practice, support agencies’ goals and aid in carrying out their vision regarding building information modeling and digital delivery. She joins a robust team of Building Information Modeling experts who are on the forefront of the industry’s digital delivery advancements.

Based in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania, Steen will provide strategic support and specialized technical expertise for BIM-enabled project delivery. Working closely with design and construction inspection staff, she will help initiate BIM project processes throughout the project life cycle to improve interdisciplinary coordination, proactively manage project risks and optimize constructability. And she’ll work to advance the latest open BIM standards, which will allow work to be more easily shared across different platforms.

“As the industry evolves to model-based design workflows, there is a need to utilize new technology, software and standards,” Steen said. “I’m excited to incorporate lean and agile practices with digital delivery workflows on projects that allow for better design decisions, construction efficiency gains, and better collaboration with all project stakeholders.”

In her 15 years in transportation, Steen has worked with agencies across the United States on various highway and construction projects involving 3D model deliverables and design visualizations. She is an industry leader and has presented at many conferences and events on BIM and related topics. She’s also a member of the Transportation Research Board’s Standing Committee on Visualization in Transportation.

“Jennifer’s broad expertise and passion for digital delivery will help our clients advance their BIM efforts,” said HDR Highways Director Will Sharp. “Her expertise adds more depth to our growing BIM program.”
