Speaker bios:

Mr. Lee D. Tanase

Lee Tanase, Senior Director of Business Development for Bridge and Geotechnical for Bentley Systems,

has more than thirty years of progressive engineering and management experience, primarily in the field of bridge engineering and technology. Mr. Tanase is an accomplished professional with expertise ranging from leading bridge design and inspection projects to software development and technology operations. An expert in introducing innovative technical and practical solutions focused on increased efficiency for the full lifecycle of bridge related projects, Mr. Tanase is an advocate and active participant in the implementation of bridge intelligent modeling (BrIM) worldwide. He joined Bentley in 2007, from LEAP Software, Inc. where he was President and CEO for more than eleven years. Mr. Tanase is an associate member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the Prestressed Concrete Institute, and the American Concrete Institute, and serves on numerous professional committees. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Structural Engineering from the Polytechnic Institute, College of Civil Engineering, Iasi, Romania.

 

Dr. Shri Bhide

Shri Bhide, Director of BrIM Product Management, joined Bentley Systems in 2008, and is a fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers. This honor, which is held by fewer than 4 percent of ASCE members, recognizes Dr. Bhide’s many contributions to the civil engineering profession. His multi-faceted career spans bridge and building design, software product management, technical marketing, program management, research, and training. As chair of the National Concrete Bridge Council, he worked with the Federal Highway Administration in key national initiatives namely, implementation of LRFD Bridge Design Specifications, Accelerated Bridge Construction, and High Performance Concrete for bridges. Among his awards are U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Designer of the Year Award, and ACI’s Wason Medal Award for the most meritorious paper. Dr. Bhide is active in several professional societies including ACI, PCI, PTI, ASBI, and TRB. He received a Bachelor of Technology degree in civil engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, and earned Master of Applied Science and PhD degrees at University of Toronto.

 

Dr. Afshin Hatami, PE joined Bentley Systems in 2015, and the Product Manager for Bentley’s RM Bridge software. He is a professional engineer in the state of California with 16 years of comprehensive experience in project engineering and bridge design with seismic considerations. Dr. Afshin has academic experience teaching bridge design and structural analysis courses for 8 years both abroad and in the United States, and served as a vice chair of the civil engineering department. During his academic years, Dr. Afshin was involved in analytical and experimental investigations of several bridge research projects funded by the National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) and Nebraska Department of Roads (NDOR).

 

Mr. Jeff Kroon is a bridge software specialist with Bentley Systems. Throughout his career he has helped companies discover and take advantage of the technical and business benefits of working with the proper mix of software solutions and workflows.

Mr. Kroon is a registered EIT in the state of Indiana and obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in civil/structural engineering from the University of Notre Dame in 2010. Early in his career, he trained many companies in North America in the use of complex bridge design software and has spoken at numerous bridge conferences. After spending some time as a design engineer, he returned to Bentley as a global product specialist, advocating for the advancement of technology in the bridge industry throughout North America, Europe, and Asia.

Mr. Alexander Mabrich, MSc, PE joined the Bentley Systems team 25 years ago. As a Senior Consultant, he provides consulting, training and support services for multidisciplinary design projects. His bridge, roadway, site, drainage, and geotechnical expertise ranges from resurfacing roadway projects through multilevel complex interchanges in the Americas, Asia, and Europe.

A registered PE in Florida, Mr. Mabrich graduated from Universidad Ricardo Palma in Lima, Peru in 1988 and obtained his Master of Science in civil engineering degree from Florida International University in 1996. He is currently pursuing a Master’s in Business Administration at Saint Thomas University. Mr. Mabrich is also a recognized speaker in civil and geotechnical conferences with papers published for conferences in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Peru.
