Project Supports Elevator Upgrades at Marlboro, Sheepshead and Tilden Houses to Improve Resident Access
NEW YORK, NY – STV has been selected by the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) to provide construction management (CM) services for Elevator Tranche 2B, one phase of NYCHA’s multi‑stage elevator modernization program supporting upgrades at Marlboro, Sheepshead and Tilden Houses in Brooklyn. The project will modernize 83 elevators across the three occupied developments, advancing a critical phase of NYCHA’s systemwide effort to improve reliability and access for residents.
“Modernizing elevators in occupied residential buildings demands precision, coordination and constant communication,” said Vincent Zito, CCM, DBIA, senior vice president and project executive at STV. “This work is about delivering better access while respecting the daily routines of residents.”
This phase of NYCHA’s program includes 83 elevator cars, including 31 at Marlboro Houses, 36 at Sheepshead Houses and 16 at Tilden Houses. The project is part of NYCHA’s broader effort to upgrade vertical transportation systems across its portfolio.
“Elevator modernization is a key method of upgrading critical building infrastructure, contributing to more reliable service for NYCHA residents and improving their quality of life,” said Dylan Baker-Rice, chief asset & capital management officer at NYCHA. “Working with experienced construction management firms, such as STV, is critical to this work. Each elevator project must be thoughtfully phased, with work carried out quickly and carefully to avoid disruption to residents. STV has the requisite experience and know-how to ensure each elevator project under their supervision is a success.”
As a trusted NYCHA partner, STV has supported major modernization efforts across the authority’s portfolio through capital program and CM services. Recent residential work includes security enhancements at 34 NYCHA developments, comprehensive modernization projects at Saint Nicholas Houses, Nostrand Houses and Bronx River Addition, heating system upgrades across NYCHA developments and an innovative waste-management system installation at Polo Grounds Towers.
