Matern Professional Engineering is proud to announce that Senior Project Manager and Mechanical Engineer, Dorian Maness, has been reappointed to the 2026 Editorial Advisory Board for School Construction News for a second year in a row. The board brings together industry leaders from across the nation who help shape timely, relevant coverage and conversation around K-12 school planning, design, construction, and operations. Board members were selected for their professional backgrounds, experience, and commitment to developing safe, healthy, accessible, sustainable, and student-centered educational projects.
Maness manages the Education Division at Matern. He brings close to a decade of project management and engineering experience in K-12 and higher-education mechanical systems design, as well as experience supporting municipal, healthcare, and other commercial projects. As a project manager and leader, he designs innovative, energy-efficient HVAC systems for schools, drawing on his experience with chilled-water plants, VAV systems, and more.
“Dorian consistently brings a thoughtful, solutions-first approach to every project he touches,” said Ryan Strandquest, President of Matern Professional Engineering. His reappointment to the School Construction Editorial Advisory Board is well deserved. Being deeply ingrained in the K-12 experience and a major advocate for continued education, Dorian has leveraged his expertise to help school communities achieve high-performing, energy-efficient facilities.”
Maness is a certified Green Globes Professional and is intimately familiar with LEED and Florida Green Building Coalition certification processes. He brings sustainability fluency to complex, multi-disciplinary projects, while collaborating across teams to integrate energy conservation strategies that align with client goals and long-term performance.
Maness holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with a specialty in mechanical systems from the University of Central Florida and is an active member of two organizations: the Central Florida chapter of ASHRAE and the Florida Educational Facilities Planners’ Association (FEFPA). He also co-leads the Matern internship program.
“I’m honored to be reappointed to the 2026 Editorial Advisory Board and to continue contributing to conversations that impact K-12 learning environments with experts in the field,” said Maness. “Additionally, as I oversee Matern’s internship program, I’m highly committed to mentoring and sharing my knowledge of educational mechanical designs with our interns. It is a way for me to pay forward what was given to me. I’m excited to be able to continue to share insights and collaborate on a larger scale with other industry leaders from the Board.”
