LYMINGTON, UK - 23 March 2026: Gill Group, a world leader in innovative measurement technologies and sensor design, recently welcomed three local high school students from Brockenhurst College (James Lee, Oliver Bell and Jacob Covey) for an intensive work experience placement. The initiative aims to bridge the gap between classroom theory and real-world application, inspiring a new generation to pursue careers in the UK’s thriving engineering sector.
During their time with the business, the students worked across Gill Sensors & Controls, Gill Instruments and Gill Research & Development, gaining direct exposure to how products are designed, built and tested for use in demanding real-world environments.
Moving beyond simple observation, the students were given hands-on exposure to the lifecycle of cutting-edge technology - from early-stage development and rapid prototyping to the rigorous testing required for products used in extreme environments like Formula One, aviation, and renewable energy.
Alan Brooke, CEO of Gill Group, said:
“Everything we build starts with people who are curious, practical and willing to solve problems. It was great to see that mindset in action. Giving students early exposure to real engineering environments is one of the most effective ways to show what a career in this space actually looks like.”
Gill Group has a long history of supporting educational outreach, regularly participating in the ‘Year in Industry’ scheme and offering apprenticeships to local talent. This latest work experience program reinforces the company’s mission to invest in the future of the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) workforce.
