DART Agrees to Continue UTSW Medical Center Shuttle
A new three-year agreement between Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) and the University of Texas Southwestern (UTSW) Medical Center has been approved to continue funding and operating a shuttle in the Medical Center area.
The contract renews service on Routes 822 and 823 that provides employees and patients short last-mile connections from Parkland Station and the TRE’s Medical/Market Center Station. The contract would have expired in September.
An average of 245 weekday riders circulate the UTSW campus area that serves Children’s Hospital, Parkland Hospital, Bass Center and William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital from 5:48 a.m. to 7:09 p.m.
UTSW has a current employment of around 14,400. Patient visits are estimated at more than 2.2. million outpatients per year and almost 100,000 hospitalized.
