Mount Polley Mine Tailings Breach Sends Toxic Waste Water into Lakes

The tailings dam of the Mount Polley Mine failed on a spectacular scale on Monday, sending billions of gallons of wastewater into the river system, and dangerously close to drinking water sources for many British Columbia municipalities.

The heavy metals from the Imperial Metals mine are likely to have widespread impacts on the environment.
