HR Wallingford’s Managing Director, Dr Jane Smallman, is to be appointed to the Council of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).

The results of the 2014 ICE Council Elections were announced this month following a poll of the Institution’s international membership. The ICE Council is the Institution’s governing body and is made up of 43 members. The Council guides the strategic direction and sets the policy of the Institution. Jane’s three year term as a General Member begins on 4 November 2014.

Jane was admitted as a Fellow of the Institution in 2008. On her election to the Council she said :

“I’m looking forward to bringing my leadership, management, business and strategic planning skills to the ICE Council, promoting innovation as a key theme for the profession.

“I want to contribute to the development of the Institution’s strategy so that it reflects today’s vibrant, modern and international civil engineering profession. It will be my aim to encourage greater diversity in our profession, and to maximise our use of talented people from across the industry.”
