Portland Transit Defines Data Access

Days before TriMet hosts its first open-source “data hackathon,” nine new mobile tools to help rider riders navigate Oregon’s largest public transit system have popped up in the agency’s App Center.
Even amid budget and ridership troubles in recent years, TriMet’s revolutionary technology efforts have been widely praised and defined as the gold standard by which all transit agencies should be measured. In fact, TriMet was the first transit agency in the world to release schedule and arrival data to anyone who wanted it.
