Calgary Strengthens Flood Infrastructure

City officials say if high waters flood into Calgary again this spring damage would be significantly less thanks to six, now-complete, major mitigation projects along river banks.

As part of a city tour for provincial officials Tuesday, city staff showed off flood erosion control and mitigation work which saw riverbanks raised as much as two meters in some areas, along with more than 20,000 tonnes of jagged, quarry rock placed along the water’s edge.
