Montreal’s Mapping Database Will be Publicly Available

Montrealers who want to peruse a 3D map of the city’s buildings, know where every lamppost is located or browse aerial photographs dating to the 1930s will soon be able to do so at will, and for free.

Mapping information compiled by the city’s geographical department will be made available through the city’s open data website (donnees.ville.montreal.qc.ca) in the coming weeks as part of the city’s ongoing push toward “smart city” status, offering more of its reams of data to the public to improve public services and spur economic activity.
