Updated AISC Specification for Safety-Related Steel Structures for Nuclear Facilities Available for Second Public Review

CHICAGO – A draft of the next edition of the AISC Specification for Safety-Related Steel Structures for Nuclear Facilities (AISC N690) is now available for public review and comment. 

The 2024 update of N690 will supersede the 2018 version.

The latest draft includes:

  • Updates to the notch toughness requirements for materials subject to impactive and impulsive loads
  • A proposed method for determining faceplate thickness for steel-plate composite structural elements subjected to impactive and impulsive loads

The draft will be available as a free download at aisc.org/publicreview between October 9 and November 8, 2023. If you’d prefer to review a hard copy, please contact Martin Downs at [email protected]; there is a $35 nominal charge for printed copies.
