Maps Underpin All Aspects of Mass. Planning

MassGIS, which creates and maintains databases of geographic data, provides municipal governments and regional planning agencies with detailed maps that contain various data layers. The maps can be used to show information such as wetlands, roof outlines, street locations and tax information.

Grant King, principal comprehensive planner at the Regional Planning and Economic Development District, said GIS programs are used in nearly every aspect of land-use planning.
