Global architecture, planning, and design firm, CRTKL, announced the appointment of Jeffrey Gyzen as Mission Critical Facilities Lead. Based out of the Los Angeles office, Jeff will oversee the planning and design of data centers globally while promoting CRTKL’s services and maintaining existing client relationships.

“Jeff is exactly the professional CRTKL needs to take our mission critical team to the next level. We couldn’t be happier to have him spearhead our sustainable data center initiatives,” said Kim Heartwell, President and CEO. “With data centers on the rise in America, facilities are continuing to evolve as they are crucial to modern technology and keeping the digitized world connected.”

“In my 36+ years of experience, I have been involved with the design of over 200 mission critical facilities throughout the US, Europe, Middle East, Pacific Rim, Central America, and Australia with a focus on designing energy efficient and eco-friendly data centers,” said Jeff. “In my new role at CRTKL, I will work in concert with CRTKL’s award-winning team of architects and engineers to provide integrated services, optimizing design through a process that is collaborative, investigative, and immersive.”

Before joining CRTKL, Jeff was actively involved as a founding author in the establishment of the first nationally recognized infrastructure Standard for Data Centers acknowledged by the American National Standards Institute, Telecommunications Industry Association, and the Cloud Security Alliance, in the development of data center design best practices published in 2011. This standard, known as ANSI/TIA-942, is also the basis for an international standard adopted by the ISO (International Organization for Standardization). It provides standards for planning data centers, computer rooms, co-location centers, trading floor equipment rooms, technology test labs, and the like.

Jeff holds both a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies and Master of Architecture from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
