Hong Kong – International design, engineering and advisory company Aurecon has appointed Vivian Lee as its Executive Director, Water, Sustainability and Climate Change for Greater China to lead its environment and sustainability business in the region.

This strategic appointment aligns with Aurecon’s commitment to support its clients transition to a low carbon energy economy and to build a greener future.

According to the Asian Development Bank, there were more than 225 million displacements due to natural disasters from 2010 to 2021 in the Asia Pacific region, as the impact of climate change deepens. As such, more governments and businesses across Asia are paying greater attention to environmental and sustainability efforts with added urgency.

China has pledged to reach peak carbon emissions before 2030 and be carbon neutral by 2060, while Hong Kong has expressed its commitment to achieve carbon neutrality before 2050. With net zero commitments gaining momentum in Greater China, the region presents new growth opportunities for Aurecon, especially in the areas of environmental management, water infrastructure engineering, sustainability and climate change.

Alton Chow, Managing Director of Greater China said, “Almost all sectors have sustainability and climate change on their agenda. It is an exciting time for us to harness all the expertise we have to help clients solve increasingly complex challenges and create a sustainable future for all. Vivian brings rich experience across Asia focusing on water and environmental challenges that will enable us to bring country-tailored expertise to life in Greater China.”

Vivian also brings to Aurecon her proven expertise in sustainability strategies and reporting; environmental design, planning and impact assessment; as well as policy and social issues analysis. She will be responsible for leading the growth of Aurecon’s environment and sustainability business in Greater China, especially in water, sustainability and climate change; sharpening Aurecon’s environment business offering with a focus on climate adaptation / resilience and ecological design services for multinational corporation clients and the public sector; developing strong client connections; as well as deepening in-house technical capabilities.

“The demand for sustainability solutions is set to continue growing, especially in Greater China.
