New Haven Mapping Project Focuses on Pedestrian Wayfinding

Matthew Nemerson, the city’s new economic development administrator, literally wants to put New Haven on the map. With $600,000 on hand from a federal grant, the city plans to put up maps at key intersections to help pedestrian visitors get around downtown, as well as in some neighborhoods.
There haven’t been specific surveys on the need for new signs but, generally speaking, Nemerson said visitors’ feedback from various sources always involves the complaint it is hard to get around here.
