DENVER — Wilkinson Barker Knauer, LLP (WBK) is pleased to announce that Jordan Pinjuv is joining the firm as a Partner. Jordan joins WBK from his role as Senior Counsel for the California Independent System Operator (CAISO), where he represented the company in a variety of state and federal regulatory proceedings in addition to advising clients on CAISO stakeholder initiatives.

During his eight-year tenure, Jordan served as the primary attorney representing the CAISO before the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) and other state agencies. In this capacity, Jordan litigated key cases regarding resource adequacy, integrated resource planning, and transmission infrastructure permitting. Jordan also represented the CAISO at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) on a variety of issues, including transmission planning, market design, and rate cases. Jordan served as the primary attorney advising the CAISO’s infrastructure development group on transmission planning, competitive solicitation, and contracting. Jordan brings a wealth of experience regarding the CAISO energy markets and their interaction with capacity and transmission markets throughout the West.

Prior to joining the CAISO, Jordan represented the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada (PUCN) as Assistant General Counsel and Assistant Staff Counsel. In his role as Assistant General Counsel, he defended the PUCN in various Nevada courts, including the Nevada Supreme Court, on critical administrative law matters. As Assistant Staff Counsel at the PUCN, Jordan litigated a variety of large cases, including natural gas and electric company rate cases and electric company resource plans.

“Jordan adds a compelling new dimension to our energy practice – and we are thrilled to have him on the team,” said WBK Managing Partner Bryan Tramont. “We have known Jordan and his work in Nevada and California over the past decade and have seen up close his first-rate advocacy and deep knowledge of the sector. We look forward to building his new practice and adding his skills to our growing and cutting-edge practice.”

“Jordan adds tremendous depth to our work on regional energy markets, not just in CAISO but across the West and the nation,” added Ray Gifford, Managing Partner in WBK’s Denver office. “As FERC’s role in the West appears to grow, WBK looks forward to working with our clients to advance sound regulatory policy.”

“I am very excited to join the WBK team and further expand the firm’s reach across the Western United States. I look forward to working with WBK’s energy practice group to provide clients expert advice on evolving wholesale markets, transmission siting, and state regulatory matters,” said Jordan Pinjuv.

Before joining the PUCN, Jordan worked as an associate at a national law firm focusing on corporate and securities matters.

Jordan received his J.D. from Notre Dame Law School and a B.A. in political science from Pepperdine University.
