WASHINGTON D.C.  — CRTKL, global architecture, design, and strategy firm, is excited to announce the expansion of its research division with two new additions: Dr. Helia Taheri and Amy Keller Frye. The seasoned specialists join as Research Strategist and Research Manager, respectively. Alongside the CRTKL research division, Dr. Helia and Amy will focus on uncovering critical themes and aspirations that positively advance human behaviors, businesses, and cities.

With eight years of experience in architecture firms and research centers across the globe, Dr. Taheri joins as a human-centric researcher, sustainability specialist, and an architect. She has a passion for bridging the gap between industry and academia, and brings extensive experience designing and conducting mixed-method research initiatives to the team. Dr. Taheri’s expertise in engaging all types of stakeholders in the research process gives her a robust understanding of alternate perspectives. This allows her to present data-informed strategies that improve occupant experience and building performance.

Frye takes on her role with fifteen years of research, strategy, and evidence-based design experience in the field. Having championed numerous research projects and having advised stakeholder groups on design research approaches, she has worked with notable clients including Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, and the Center for Health Design. Her specialized expertise in the health, science, and education sectors has afforded her knowledge of patient experience, translational research, and pedagogy. This will serve to further encourage an innovative architectural approach at CRTKL.

CRTKL Research is distinctly positioned at the intersection of research, users, and the built environment itself, employing analysis to develop relevant insights that serve to guide clients and partners. From the COVID-19 response and recovery to climate adaptation and social equity issues, the places in which we live, work, and play must meet a new set of imperatives. With extensive access to data and project case studies over the last 75 years, the firm is committed to continuing to build awareness, knowledge, and skills through the utilization of data-informed processes.
