Perkins&Will’s Dallas studio celebrates the groundbreaking of The Dallas College Eastfield Student Success Center and Interdisciplinary Academic Building today.

The 116,000-square-foot Student Success Center and Interdisciplinary Academic Building will allow Dallas College to provide consolidated instructional, student life, and student services under one roof. The new building will offer various program spaces, including a welcome center, advising and transfer center, English language learner advising, career services, wellness center, TRIO, veteran division, disability services, educational partnerships, testing center, admissions, financial aid, and a business office. The building will also add 25 classrooms, 50 offices, various academic suites, and collaboration spaces to encourage interactions amongst classmates and faculty. Perkins&Will’s design reflects Dallas College’s commitment to student success, providing students with access to an encouraging environment that drives prosperity within the community through education.

“Perkins&Will is honored to have the opportunity to work with a client that shares the same commitment to creating compelling learning environments that best serve students, educators, and the surrounding community,” comments Dan Eikenberry, Senior Project Manager, Senior Associate at Perkins&Will. “Our design reflects a vision for the Student Success Center and Interdisciplinary Academic Building that will enable Dallas College to continue transforming lives and communities through higher education.”

The Student Success Center and Interdisciplinary Academic building is situated at the front of the campus on a main pedestrian path. Perkins&Will’s design reframes this path, creating a unique gateway into the campus. The strategic use of glazing at the main entry space provides visibility through the building and to the campus beyond, furthering the idea of the building as both a gateway and connector between the college and the community. The multipurpose room, also located adjacent to the main entry and on a semi-enclosed front lawn space, provides opportunity for community involvement with the campus while serving as a beacon for education access in the surrounding community. Open to students, faculty, and community, the front lawn can also be used as a pre-function area for the multipurpose event space, connected through a folding glass partition, to further engage academic and community activities.
