Jacobsen Construction promotes seven leaders in anticipation of strong U.S. economy, long-term growth
SALT LAKE CITY — In a move that prepares Jacobsen Construction Company for a busy project schedule, favorable construction industry conditions and strong economic tailwinds this year and beyond, the general contractor has announced the promotion of seven executives.
- Jon Wight, who joined Jacobsen in 2005, has been named Vice President of Field Operations, a new position at the company. In his pivotal role, he holds high-level strategic risk management and construction management responsibilities. Wight has been serving as a project executive overseeing Jacobsen’s religious projects market and will continue to supervise key projects in that area.
- Jon Moody has assumed the role of Vice President and Project Executive, where he will utilize his expertise in pre-construction and project development gained over the course of 21-plus years at Jacobsen. Moody is overseeing several Jacobsen projects that begin in 2022.
- Josh Fenn now holds the title of Vice President and Project Executive at Jacobsen, while also continuing in his role as Assistant Project Director at the Salt Lake Temple Major Renovation. Fenn is a 16-year industry veteran and has managed large, complex projects for Jacobsen since joining the firm in 2017.
- Rob Mills is now serving as Vice President of Project Development. Mills has handled project development duties for Jacobsen projects nationwide since 1999, most recently as a preconstruction manager.
- Scott Samowitz, who has kept Jacobsen’s information systems secure and technological capabilities up to date since joining the firm in 1999, now serves as Vice President of Information Technology & Security. He had previously been serving as Director of Information Technology.
- Julie Mulcock has been named Executive Vice President of Human Resources. Mulcock has worked for Jacobsen since 2002, most recently as Vice President and Director of Human Resources for the past 17 months, overseeing the needs of the company’s 600-strong workforce.
- Scott DeGraffenried, Jacobsen’s General Counsel, now fills that role as an Executive Vice President at the company. DeGraffenried, named to the Utah Legal Elite list in 2021, has been with Jacobsen since 2018.
All of these newly announced promotions were approved unanimously by the Jacobsen Board of Directors and were made effective as of January 2022.

Chief Operating Officer Matt Radke said it’s worth celebrating that the new leadership positions are all being filled by internal candidates whose training and long-term experience at Jacobsen has made them well-prepared for their new duties.

The announced changes come at an exciting and eventful time in Jacobsen’s history, and during a period of hot construction markets and intense interest in commercial development in Utah and other states where the company does business. In 2021, Jacobsen employees moved into the company’s modern, newly built Salt Lake City headquarters; and this year, Jacobsen is celebrating 100 years since its founding. Jacobsen is also currently constructing transformative developments such as The West Quarter and Astra Tower in downtown Salt Lake City; the new Primary Children’s Hospital in Lehi, Utah; and the major historical and seismic renovation of the Salt Lake Temple, a world-famous symbol of worship.
