SUE Association Elects Officers, Directors

Fairfax, VA – The Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) Association, a non-profit trade association of firms engaged in providing professional SUE services, and those in related fields, has elected a slate of officers and board of directors for 2022. 

The new members of the organization’s board of directors were seated on Thursday, October 28, 2021 and officers were subsequently elected by the board, in accordance with the association’s bylaws. The actions took place during the association’s annual business meeting held virtually.  

The Board will consist of — 

Two Year Director Seats

Andrew Sylvest* – Lamb-Star Engineering, Golden, Colorado

Daniel Checchia* – Colliers Engineering & Design, Boca Raton, Florida

John Berrettini* – A/I/Data, Inc., Baltimore, Maryland

Nicholas Zembillas* – Subsurface Utility Engineering LLC, Tarpon Springs, Florida

Rhett Sloan – Surveying And Mapping, LLC (SAM), North Jackson, Ohio

 

One Year Director Seats

TJ Stokes* – T. Baker Smith, LLC, Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Lawrence Arcand* – 4Sight Utility Engineers, Whitby, Ontario, Canada

Don Haines* – Utility Mapping Services, Inc., Shoreline, Washington

Bob Clemens* – WGI, Tampa, Florida

Ryan Martin – Accumark, Ashland, Virginia

Elected officers for 2022, effective immediately: 

President: Andrew Sylvest

President-Elect: Daniel Checchia

Treasurer: John Berrettini

Secretary: Nicholas Zembillas

 

“It is a great honor for me to take office as the President of the SUE Association,” said Sylvest. “Every member of the SUE Association has benefited from its membership, and I have personally and professionally profited from the information, education, and relationships in the SUE Association from day one. Our goal is to foster professionalism in SUE practice, promote ASCE 38-02, Standard Guidelines for the Collection and Depiction of Existing Subsurface Utility Data and its soon to be implemented successor, and contribute to SUE education and be an advocate for growth in the utilization of SUE services. I am pleased to have this opportunity to give back to our profession and the clients we serve.”

 

About the SUE Association 

Formed in 2018, the Subsurface Utility Engineering Association is the only national association exclusively comprised of firms, organizations, and individuals in the SUE field in the United States and Canada. The current memberships span the broad spectrum of professional service firms, including Regular Member Firms engaged performing subsurface utility engineering services are private, for-profit organizations where one of its purposes is managing certain risks associated with utility mapping at appropriate quality levels, utility coordination, utility relocation design and coordination, utility condition assessment, communication of utility data to concerned parties, utility relocation cost estimates, implementation of utility accommodation policies and utility design. An Associate Member is any firm engaged in the manufacturing and/or supplying of subsurface utility engineering equipment, supplies, hardware, software, or services that support but is not engaged in performing subsurface utility engineering services. An Affiliate Member is any government agency, university, or other institution of higher learning, non-profit organization, or other entity that does not meet the criteria as a Regular Member Firm or Associate Member Firm or is not engaged in but with an interest in the subsurface utility engineering field. An Independent Consultant is an individual who would not otherwise qualify for membership under the Regular, Associate, or Affiliate categories, is not affiliated with any firm or organization that would qualify for membership under the Regular, Associate, or Affiliate categories, has no employees, is engaged in consulting in or to the subsurface utility engineering profession, and provides a consulting service of interest to the subsurface utility engineering profession.
