Pleasanton, Calif. ā€” Simpson Strong-Tie, the leader in engineered structural connectors and building solutions, in conjunction with SteelDay, the annual celebration of the structural steel industry sponsored by the American Institute of Steel Construction, will unveil its Voortman MSI as part of a tour for SteelDay attendees at the companyā€™s facility in Riverside, CA, where the Yield-LinkĀ® moment connection is tested and fabricated.

Designed to absorb forces in a seismic event, the Yield-Link connection requires no field welding and allows beams to be designed without supplemental lateral bracing, resulting in fewer fabricated steel elements and field connections to help reduce onsite labor costs, licensing fees and construction time for contractors.

As part of the facility tour, attendees will see the unveiling of the Voortman MSI used to fabricate Yield-Link connections. The multi-system integration from Voortman Steel Group includes a 3D plasma coper, high-speed drill, CNC saw, media blaster, and V325 plate processor that all work in unison to fabricate Yield-Link connections with accuracy and precision.

ā€œA revolutionary connection for structural steel, the Yield-Link moment connection could change how our attendees view structural steel connections designed for moment frames ,ā€ says Tim Ellis, market segment manager for structural steel at Simpson Strong-Tie. ā€œWeā€™re excited to welcome attendees to our facility to see how Yield-Link connections are fabricated and ask questions of our development, fabrication, and engineering teams.ā€

As part of the tour, Simpson Strong-Tie will also demo software plugins so attendees can start detailing the Yield-Link moment connections on projects right away, and a grab-and-go lunch will be provided at the conclusion of the tour. Simpson Strong-Tie will adhere to Riverside County COVID-19 safety precautions, and closed-toe shoes are required.

SteelDay attendees can register for the September 24 facility tour in Riverside, CA, and download additional information on the Simpson Strong-Tie SteelDay event page. For more information on the Yield-Link moment connection, visit the Yield-Link overview page on strongtie.com.
