Skanska has signed a contract with the Norwegian Public Roads Administration on preparatory work for a part of the new E18 highway between Fornebukrysset and Strand outside Oslo, Norway. The contract is worth NOK 930M, about SEK 920M, which will be included in the Nordic order bookings for the second quarter 2021.

The contract is part of the major project E18 Western Corridor, which consists of a new main highway system between Lysaker in Bærum and Drengsrud in Asker municipality. The new E18 will replace one of Norway`s busiest road sections, today characterized by traffic problems, poor accessibility for public transport, and extensive noise and air pollution.

The main work to be carried out includes groundwork and mass handling, demolition and remediation work, conversion of technical infrastructure, construction of a new surface water route, sheet piling, construction of parts of surrounding local roads, foundations for provisional bridges and permanent and provisional structures.

To ensure sufficient protection of external environment aspects throughout the project, Skanska will certify the work according to CEEQUAL, which is an internationally recognized certification standard for infrastructure.

Construction will start June 2021 and is expected to be completed February 2023.

E101 Preparatory work Fornebukrysset–Strand is the second out of two preparatory contracts to be carried out before the actual main development of the E18 Western Corridor can start. The first contract was won by Skanska in September 2020.
