Skanska has signed a contract with the energy company Equinor on the construction of a substation at Kollsnes, Norway. The contract is worth NOK 390M, about SEK 380M, and will be included in the Nordic order bookings for the second quarter 2021.

The contract is a part of the Troll West electrification project that includes partial electrification of the Troll B platform and full electrification of Troll C in the North Sea. This means that both platforms’ power demand will be met from shore. The project will help cut emissions on the Norwegian continental shelf substantially.

In addition to the construction of the substation, the contract consists of onshore cables as well as establishing a ditch and culvert from the substation to a landfall. The landfall will be drilled from shore into the sea and prepared for the laying of offshore cables. The electrical system in the transformer station as well as offshore cables are supplied in other contracts.

The project will be delivered to the customer in December 2022.
