Stantec expands its Federal and Commercial US Power and Dams practice with the addition of Kung Ven to lead the Southeast team

ALPHARETTA, GA TSX, NYSE:STN: Leading global design firm Stantec has enhanced its Power and Dams and Federal sector capabilities in the southeastern United States, adding veteran engineering director Kung Ven as regional sector leader. Ven brings extensive expertise supporting federal agencies, departments of defense, local government, and commercial entities, increasing the firm’s ability to serve its public and private clients throughout the region.

Ven is an experienced engineering director, business unit leader, client account manager, program/project manager, technical reviewer, and electrical engineer. He brings to Stantec nearly 20 years of industry knowledge focused on infrastructure design and consulting, power and energy, building engineering, project/program management, and construction management. His expertise spans power distribution, power generation, instrumentation and controls, energy storage and resilience, renewable energy, microgrids, technology systems, cyber security, and power studies.

Ven has successfully led multi-disciplinary teams to execute work across multiple business lines, market sectors, and regions. He brings a longstanding track record of success supporting federal clients, including the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), the Department of Energy (DOE), NASA, the General Services Administration (GSA), the U.S. Postal Service (USPS), the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC), the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), and the Department of Defense (DOD).

Ven’s project leadership experience includes serving as the lead electrical engineer for the design of combined heat and plants for VA Medical Centers in Atlanta, Augusta, and Dublin, Georgia. He has also served as the lead electrical engineer for multiple energy saving projects for Patrick Air Force Base and Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida, as well as the USACE Fort Belvoir Microgrid.

Ven’s experience in the commercial sector includes serving as the project manager and electrical engineer of record on the Clayton County Landfill Gas Power Generation project, overseeing the design and construction of a two-megawatt powerplant. He also served as an electrical engineer on a combined heat and power plant project at the Juniata Railyard for the Norfolk Southern Railway Company.

Ven earned his Master of Science degree in electrical and computer engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and his MBA from Georgia State University. Ven is a licensed electrical PE and a LEED AP. He has also served as quality assurance/quality control manager and has executed a quality management system to achieve ISO9001 certification.
