Allows State-of-the-Art Alternative for British Columbia Infrastructure Projects

HILLIARD, Ohio – Thermoplastic polypropylene (PP) pipe has been added to the Master Municipal Construction Documents (MMCD) list of approved products for use in highway, culvert and other infrastructure projects in British Columbia.  The listings for polypropylene pipe can be found in MMCD Section 33 40 01: Storm Sewers, Mainline Profile and in Section 33 42 13: Pipe Culverts, Open Profile.

According to Advanced Drainage Systems, Inc. (ADS) (NYSE: WMS), a major pipe producer, this update provides British Columbia with a vetted standard that can be readily integrated into a specification, a Request for Quotation (RFQ) or a system design plan.  The company submitted its SaniTite® HP polypropylene pipe to the Master Municipal Construction Documents Association, Civil Committee, which reviewed the product and material.

“We are very pleased that our SaniTite HP pipe was unanimously approved by the committee and is now part of the MMCD,” stated Brian King, Executive Vice President Product Management and Marketing for ADS.  “SaniTite HP pipe provides a great value for any project.  It’s actually rated for sanitary sewer use, which means it vastly exceeds the MMCD requirements for storm sewer systems and culverts.  The pipe can work especially well in soft soils and river delta areas as found in British

Columbia.  For system designers it provides versatility, contractors find it easy to install and for municipalities, SaniTite HP maximizes infrastructure tax dollars as compared to traditional pipe materials.”

ADS SaniTite® HP polypropylene pipe is certified to meet CSA Standard B182.13 by Intertek, a third-party certification body authorized by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) to certify products.  Additionally, the structural performance of SaniTite HP has been evaluated in accordance with American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Load Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) Bridge Design Specifications.  SaniTite HP is accepted by the British Columbia and Ontario Ministries of Transportation (BCMOT and MTO), the Ontario Provincial Standards (OPS) and meets ASTM F2736, and ASTM F2764 with 100 kPa (15psi) joints tested in accordance with ASTM D3212 for water tightness.

SaniTite HP is available in sizes from 300 to 1500mm and provides a smooth interior for hydraulic performance and a profile wall (open or closed depending on diameter) for stiffness and beam strength.

The company has a global network of 63 plants and 32 distribution centers.  ADS products are found in farms, sports stadiums, golf courses, highways, building complexes, housing developments, industrial parks, airports and the infrastructure of cities and towns throughout Canada and the world.
