Video: Building the New Smart City
The city of San Jose has been an early smart city adopter. It is home to Verizon’s 5G mobility and 5G Home, as well as the first area where we launched MEC. In 2019, Verizon installed TDS – or Traffic Data Services – that assist in optimizing traffic patterns and reducing commuting time. Implementing creative traffic solutions was a big reason why the International DataCorporation named San Jose as a Smart City of the year winner. San Jose is on the cutting edge of what smart city solutions on Verizon’s 5G can do to help lower our collective carbon footprint. We’re not waiting for the future to be better, we’re doing our part by setting a goal for Verizon to become carbon neutral by 2035.
