Brian G. Morgen Joins Thornton Tomasetti as Vice President and Seattle Office Director

(New York, N.Y. ) – Thornton Tomasetti announces that Brian G. Morgen, Ph.D., P.E., S.E., LEED AP has joined the firm as vice president and Seattle office director.

Morgen has more than 16 years of experience in the Seattle market and an extensive background in structural analysis and design, and project management. He has collaborated with project teams on many technically challenging structures, including office and residential towers, healthcare facilities, civic and cultural centers and mixed-use complexes. Morgen is a specialist in performance-based seismic design and played a key role in the design of several high-performing buildings in earthquake-prone areas in the Western U.S. and Asia.

Prior to joining Thornton Tomasetti, Morgen was a principal in Magnusson Klemencic Associates’ Seattle office and a senior member of the firm’s office and residential specialist groups, where he managed developments and mixed-use projects totaling more than eight million square feet. Morgen also led MKA’s Performance-Based Seismic Design Technical Specialist Team. While there, he amassed a global portfolio of performance-based seismic design projects totaling more than 17 million square feet.

Thornton Tomasetti’s Seattle office has a number of high-profile projects in the region, including Climate Pledge Arena and the recently completed University of Oregon Knight Campus in Eugene, OR.

Morgen holds a doctorate and a master’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Notre Dame, and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Washington State University. He is a Registered Structural Engineer and Civil Engineer in Washington and California. Morgen is a member of the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat and the Structural Engineers Association of Washington.
