Tom Harjung Joins Stantec’s Transportation Practice

ATLANTA, GA, NYSE, TSX:STN: Leading global design firm Stantec has hired Tom Harjung as a Senior Project Manager in the Transportation practice. Joining the firm’s Atlanta office, he will be responsible for helping grow Stantec’s client base and services as well as project management leadership, technical design expertise, and exceptional project delivery.

Harjung brings 30 years of professional experience, including five years at the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT). With project experience spanning Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Mississippi, he specializes in conceptual, preliminary, and final roadway and intersection designs; utility relocation designs; safety and operational projects; quality control; scheduling; and cost estimating. Key project experience includes the SR 15 Sparta Bypass in Hancock County, GA; SR 56 widening in Burke County, GA; and the SR 11/US 129 widening and reconstruction in Jackson and Hall Counties, GA. He also served as lead roadway design engineer for the west section of the Mobile River Bridge and Bayway project for the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT), where he transitioned to owner’s representative in advancing the project toward a public-private partnership (P3) delivery.

“Tom is a seasoned transportation professional with a deep background working with municipal clients,” said Mike Holt, principal overseeing Stantec’s Atlanta Transportation practice. “He is a tremendous addition to our team and we look forward to utilizing his decades-long experience to help us win and execute impactful transportation projects in the communities we serve.”

Harjung is a graduate of Georgia Southern University, with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering technology. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE), and the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE).
