Rosendin Provides Scholarships for Summer Interns
San Jose, California (June 9, 2020) – The COVID-19 pandemic has closed college campuses and canceled summer internships, but one construction company is still supporting college students. Rosendin, the largest employee-owned electrical contracting firm in the U.S., will give each one of its summer interns a scholarship.
Rosendin’s showcase program is one of the most coveted in the nation for students studying project management, electrical engineering, construction, computer modeling, and other career paths aligned with large-scale commercial and industrial building. However, due to concerns for the health and safety of the 2020 intern class and current Rosendin employees amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, Rosendin made the decision to cancel this year’s summer internship program.
Despite the cancelation of the program, Rosendin will provide all first-year and second-year interns with a $1,500 scholarship and provide third-year interns with a $2,500 scholarship. In addition, interns who were accepted into the 2020 program will be invited to participate in the 2021 program. Returning interns who plan to finish college in December will be presented with a job offer upon graduation starting in January 2021.
“Rosendin is serious about recruiting and retaining the absolute best talent and we love working with young people, so it was disappointing for us to have to cancel this summer’s internship program,“ said Julie Moss, Director of Human Resources. “These scholarships are one small way we can thank Rosendin’s interns for all their hard work to apply for our program and let them know that we are still interested in working with them next year.”
Rosendin’s internship program is highly selective, accepting no more than 100 applicants each year. Students accepted into Rosendin’s internship program receive comprehensive real-world experience, including a full week of orientation training at the company’s San Jose headquarters where they have the opportunity to meet with members of the executive team, learn safety measures, walk a construction site and learn about the company’s services. Interns are then sent to one of the company’s 17-offices nationwide to get hands-on experience in their field.

Rosendin places worker safety among its highest priorities and has implemented several new protocols that follow recommendations from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and local health department guidelines.
