The small town of Monmouth in Wales have harnessed Wikipedia to chronicle their history. Visitors can use their smart phones to scan bar codes at points of interest to call up details about landmarks in 26 languages. There are more than 1,000 points marked with these codes in a project called Monmouthpedia.

The cataloging of city infrastructure and points of interest amount to 450 new articles about Monmouth in Wikipedia. The project aims to collect notable places as well as people, including the fact that English King Henry V was born there.
