DLR Group’s design will enhance the campus experience by consolidating essential student services to one location.

SAN JOSE, CALIF. — San Jose Evergreen Community College District selected DLR Group to design the new student services complex at Evergreen Valley College in southeast San Jose, Calif. The new two-building complex, which consists of a 48,000-SF student services facility and a 23,000-SF academic administration building, will be connected via an elevated walking bridge and a large pedestrian plaza at grade.

DLR Group’s design will bring together essential student services previously scattered across multiple buildings to one facility located along the southwest edge of campus. As the new main entry to campus, the complex houses life administrative services, counseling, financial aid, health services, testing, and other student programs.

“This project presents an incredible opportunity to create a new campus gateway for Evergreen Valley College. It will be a welcoming, sustainable, and inclusive destination for students and staff,” said DLR Group Principal Irene Monis, AIA, LEED AP BD+C.

Approximate cost for the new student services complex is $54.7 million. It is funded through the $748 million Measure X bond program passed by the San Jose community in November 2016. Construction is expected to begin in October 2021 and be completed in March 2023.
