CHICAGO – The American Institute of Steel Construction is excited to announce a first: the Virtual Steel Conference.

NASCC: The Virtual Steel Conference will bring more than 50 sessions with the industry leaders whose ideas are driving today’s innovation right to conference participants, wherever they may be–and registration is free.

“We know this is a difficult time for everyone so we’re offering this virtual conference at no cost to attendees, including providing PDH credits,” said Scott Melnick, AISC’s senior vice president.

The Virtual Steel Conference will feature some of the originally planned sessions as well as some new ones that are specifically designed to help the AEC community navigate today’s uncertainties.

Participants will learn about:

  • Protecting their companies from contract and insurance issues related to COVID-19
  • How to avoid costly design, detail, and change order issues
  • Structural stainless steel and AISC’s upcoming standard
  • How structural steel’s unique supply chain and reusable nature makes it the ideal sustainable material
  • Opportunities and challenges facing the construction marketplace during the COVID-19 pandemic
  • Cyber threats in the construction industry
  • The latest on AISC Certification audits
  • Conflict management, negotiation, and how to make the most of one’s individual assets as a manager

These sessions will take place online from April 21 to April 24, and registration is free. PDHs are available for participation in the Virtual Steel Conference.

The Virtual Steel Conference will incorporate the World Steel Bridge Symposium, Architecture in Steel, and the inaugural QualityCon, which features insights on both the principles of quality management and specific ways improving quality processes can–and will–boost the bottom line for fabricators and erectors.

NASCC: The Steel Conference had been scheduled to take place in Atlanta. AISC made the difficult decision last month to cancel the in-person event following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
